Lila Clarissa Nimmons, 89, of 77 Emerald Lane died yesterday at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 5, 1916, daughter of Benjamin H. and Bertha Meacham Burnett, she attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School.
She lived in Adams most of her life until moving to Williamstown 20 years ago.
Although a homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Nimmons was employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates in Adams for several years as an inspector. She also worked for several years as a census taker for the town of Adams.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Adams and the Friendship Club in Williamstown, and a former member of the Adams Turners and its bowling league.
She enjoyed watching golf matches and vacationing at Lake Champlain.
She and her husband, James E. Nimmons, were married Nov. 26, 1937. He died March 23, 1993.
She leaves a son, Edward F. Nimmons of North Adams; a brother, Alfred Burnett of Adams, and a grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Lila Clarissa Nimmons, who died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, will be conducted Saturday, June 24, at noon at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Donald E. Gray, pastor of First Baptist Church of Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, MA 01220.
