William E. Card

William E. Card, 80, of 51 Mountain View St. died yesterday at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 25, 1925, son of Homer and Mary Dupree Card, he attended schools in North Adams and in the Berkshire Village section of Lanesborough.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he was discharged with the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Card was employed by Tierney Construction Co. in Pittsfield, retiring in 1982. Before that, he was a carpenter for Gordon & Sutton Construction Co. for several years and worked at the former Brightwater Paper Co.
He was a member of White Oaks Congregational Church, Richard A. Ruether Post 152 American Legion and East Mountain Sportsmen's Club. He was past master of Greylock Masonic Lodge.
He and his wife, the former Gloria St. Cyr, would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary Aug. 28.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Cindy Garbarsky of Williamstown and Kathleen Risatti of Pownal, Vt.; three sons, Michael Card of Williamstown, Jeffrey Card of North Adams and James Card of Woonsocket, R.I.; two sisters, Rita Cirone of North Adams and Frances Desautels of Williamstown, and seven grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William E. Card, who died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, will be Friday at 11 at White Oaks Congregational Church in Williamstown.
Burial will follow with full military honors in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be tomorrow, June 29, from 4 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
Memorial donations are suggested for Village Ambulance or for Shriners' Children Hospital, both through the funeral home.
