Evelyn Owen Bourdon, 92, of 79 Nutmeg Lane died Monday at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 19, 1914, daughter of Herbert W. and Rose Owen Collins, she attended local schools and was a 1931 graduate of Drury High School.
She graduated from Bay Path College in 1933.
Mrs. Bourdon was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service from 1944 to 1946. While in the Navy, she was stationed at the Fleet Post Offices in New York City and San Francisco until her honorable discharge in 1946.
She was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams from 1958 until her retirement in 1976. Previously, she worked for Williams College from 1946 until 1958. Prior to that, she was employed by the former Colts Patent Firearms in North Adams from 1942 to 1944, and the former Arnold Print Works from 1934 to 1942.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, North Adams, and a member of the Friendship Club.
She leaves her husband, Albert A. Bourdon, whom she married April 17, 1974.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Evelyn Bourdon, who died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, at 10:30 a.m. in AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, with the Rev. Susan Stewart, pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the North Adams First United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
She also leaves a niece, Marilyn Truskowski and her husband, Joseph of North Adams; a nephew, Robert Collins and his wife, Shari of North Adams; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Dean and Irving Collins.
