Yvonne Rita Neville

Yvonne Rita Neville, 88, of 67 Langlois Ave., The Spruces, died Wednesday at her home.

Born in North Adams on Nov. 12, 1917, daughter of Homer J. and Mary Kennedy Smith, she attended schools there, including the former Notre Dame school.

She then moved to Agawam, and graduated from Agawam High School.

She was employed by the former Renton's Bakery in North Adams until 1951, when she and her late husband founded Nevilles' Donuts Co. in North Adams. She retired in the early 1980s.

Mrs. Neville was a member of the First United Methodist Church of North Adams.

She was former member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion in North Adams. She was a seamstress and sewed the kilts for the 40 and 8 kilting band in North Adams.

She married John Anderson Neville on May 14, 1938. Mr. Neville died March 14, 1987.

She leaves two daughters, Margaret Ripton of Douglaston, N.Y., and Linda LaBenski of Wenonah, N.J.; a son, John Anderson Neville Jr. of Clarksburg; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services to celebrate the life of Yvonne Rita Smith Neville, who died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI- MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams.

Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours are Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the First United Methodist Church of North Adams through the funeral home.

She also leaves a son-in-law, Hugh; a daughter-in-law, Linda; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Becky Armstrong and her husband John, John A. Neville III and his wife Fredericka, Peggy Neville and her husband, Alan Aubin, Charles LaBenski, Ronald LeBenski, Steven LaBenski and Jeffrey LaBenski.
