Elaine McDonald

Elaine McDonald, 75, of Paxton died Saturday, Oct. 7, at home.

She was the mother of Sue McDonald Budz of Williamstown.

Born in Floral Park, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1930, daughter of Everett and Edna Hamburg Haviland, she graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1948 and attended Cedar Crest College and Berkley Business School.

Mrs. McDonald was a dental assistant for Dr. Joseph Randi in Garden City, N.Y., and a secretary at J. Walter Thompson Advertising in New York City.

She traveled the world in support of her husband's military career for 27 years before retiring to their permanent home in Paxton.

She enjoyed tennis, ice skating and birding, and was a Friend of St. Joseph's Abbey.

Her husband, John F. McDonald Jr., died in 2002.

Besides her daughter, she leaves two sons, David Buchanan McDonald of Northfield, N.J., and Dr. John Haviland McDonald of Worcester; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Elaine (Haviland) McDonald died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006. After cremation, a Mass of Resurrection will be held at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, in St. Joseph's Abbey, 167 North Spencer Road, Spencer. Burial of ashes will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton.
