David G. Depew, 75

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — David George Depew, 75, of 17 May St. died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 15, 1930, son of George and Rose Major Depew, he attended schools in Pittsfield and the Society for the Divine Word School in Canisius, N.Y. He moved to Williamstown in 1957.

A National Guard veteran, he served at both the North Adams and Pittsfield armories.

Mr. Depew was employed for 25 years by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield in the power transformer department, retiring in 1991.

He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, where he was an active member of the Parish of Sts. Patrick and Raphael. He served as a Eucharist minister and as an acolyte at funeral Masses. He was also a member of the Third Order of Carmelite Fathers.

He enjoyed gardening and maintained flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed reading, travel, building models and photography.

He and his wife, former Maureen Frances King, were married on June 25, 1955, in St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams.

Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Valerie Huban of Ambler, Pa., Michele Mank of Lakeland, Fla., and Diane Hood of Alpharetta, Ga.; a son, Mark Depew of Birmingham, England, and nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, the Rev. Thomas A. Depew, a Maryknoll priest, in 1994.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Depew will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown by the Rev. Mark Burke, pastor.

Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams are Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Donations to Western Mass Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
