Marjorie Ann Neyland

Marjorie Ann Neyland, 82, of College Street, South Hadley, a native of Williamstown, died Jan. 19 at home.
Born on Dec. 12, 1924, daughter of John B. and Catherine Maher Neyland, she graduated in 1943 from the former Williamstown High School and in 1947 from Bennington (Vt.) College with a degree in biology. She pursued graduate studies at New York University and at Radcliffe/
Harvard University, where she was a doctoral candidate in plant physiology.
Ms. Neyland held various research positions at Mount Holyoke College and at Holyoke Community College.
She sang in the choir at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Holyoke and was a member of the South Hadley Chorale. An environmentalist, she enjoyed hiking, bicycling and gardening.
She leaves a sister, Margaret Altmann of Williamstown.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial gathering for Marjorie Ann Neyland, who died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at a private home in South Hadley. Burial will be at a later date in the family plot in Westlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Ms. Neyland also leaves a brother-in-law, Eberhart Altmann of Williamstown; a sister-in-law, Carroll Neyland of Webster, N.Y.; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; great-grandnephews and -great-grandnieces, including Virginia (Mrs. Thomas) Sheldon; and the family of Andrew Sheldon of Williamstown.
