Helen Lawson Trayon

Helen Lawson Trayon, 84, of 2 Haley St. died yesterday at home.

Born in North Adams on Sept. 11, 1922, daughter of Joseph H. and Helen Lawson Trayon, she graduated from Drury High School and received a bachelor's from Tufts University and a master's degree from the former North Adams State Teachers College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Ms. Trayon taught first grade at the former Commercial Street Elementary School in Adams for many years.

She was a member of White Oaks Congregational Church in Williamstown.

She leaves two nieces, Robin Wingard of Oakmont, Pa., and Donna Taylor of Lower Burrell, Pa., and a nephew, Steele Gow of North Waldoboro, Maine.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A private funeral for Helen Trayon, who died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, will be held at Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Trayon also leave her niece's husband, Hugh Taylor; two cousins, Jean Gomeau of Williamstown and Nancy Christian of West Palm Beach, Fla. A sister, Doris T. Gow, is deceased.
