Shirley May Bartram Duchna, 78, 412 North St., died Monday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in Bridgeport, Conn., on Feb. 20, 1929, daughter of George and Alma Simpson Bartram, she attended schools in New Jersey and moved to Williamstown, where she graduated from the former Williamstown High School in 1947.
She was employed at the former Williamstown National Bank for 50 years.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Williamstown, where she was a member of the altar guild.
She was also a member of the Friendship Club at Harper Center in Williamstown, and the "Red Hat Society." She volunteered at the Williamstown Chamber of Commerce information booth and with the Bloodmobile for the American Red Cross. She also was a counter for public elections in Williamstown. She worked at the many book sales at the Williamstown Public Library and loved to grow flowers and take care of animals.
Her first husband was Leonard H. Alberts. Her second husband, Stanley Duchna, died in 1988.
Mrs. Duchna leaves a daughter, Sally Ann Stemp of Bennington, Vt., a stepdaughter, Barbara Ann Brice of Nottingham, England; and a step-granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Shirley May Bartram Duchna, who died Monday, April 9, 2007, will take place Monday at 11 a.m. at the family plot in Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield, Conn. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take at St. John's Episcopal Church of Williamstown at a later date.
Memorial donations are suggested for the Berkshire County Humane Society, in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA. Mrs. Duchna also leaves a son-in-law, Kenneth Stemp; a stepson-in-law, Michael Brice; and step-granddaughter, Rebecca Brice.
