WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Dorothy Ann Swanson, 81, of 118 Church St., died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 1, 1926, daughter of Leo and Helen Mach Peters, she attended the former St. Joseph's Schools in North Adams, graduating from St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1943.
Mrs. Swanson was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. as the tape librarian and computer programmer for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Before that, she was employed by New England Telephone Co.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and reading.
She leaves a daughter, Cecelia "Ce" Swanson of Cheshire; a son, Kenneth Swanson of North Adams; a sister, Barbara Pringle of North Adams, and a granddaughter, Felicia Swanson.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Barry and Elizabeth Beauchamp.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Swanson will take place Monday at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams. It will be followed by a Liturgy of Christian at 11 a.m. at St. Francis' Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for North Adams Adult Day Health Center through the funeral home.
