William Francis Wilber

William Francis Wilber, 86, of 52 Arnold St., died Tuesday at Williamstown Commons.
Born in Arlington, Vt., on Feb. 10, 1921, son of Winfield S. Wilber and Ethel Ennis Wilber Waite, he attended schools in East Arlington, Vt., and graduated from Saratoga Springs (N.Y.) High School.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Wilber was employed by General Cable Co. for many years, retiring as a supervisor.
He was a communicant of St. Raphael's Church and a member of the Richard Reuther Post 152 American Legion.
He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, singing, playing the harmonica and playing bridge at the Harper Center.
He and his wife, the former Helen Perry, were married on June 2, 1945. She died Aug. 25, 1994.
Mr. Wilber leaves a son, Michael D. Wilber of North Adams; two daughters, Margaret A. Harwood of Williamstown and Jean M. Wysocki of Pownal, Vt.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William Wilber, who died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, will be Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams. It will be followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael's Church in Williamstown, celebrated by the Rev. Mark Burke, pastor.
Burial with veteran's honors will be in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the Williamstown Commons Activities Fund in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Wilber also leaves a daughter-in-law, Peggy; a son-in-law, Dennis; five grandchildren, Paul Wysocki and Dennis Wysocki of Pownal, Vt.; Kelly Garrison of North Adams; Colleen Harwood and Jennifer Harwood of Cheshire; and nieces and nephews. A granddaughter, Penny Marie Roberts, died in 1967. A brother, Donald Waite, died Aug. 22, 1993.
