Addie Foster

Williamstown's Oldest Resident, Addie (Chittenden)Foster, 107, of 83 Nutmeg Lane, died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at the Sweetbrook Health Care Center in Williamstown.

She was born in Stephentown, New York on July 31, 1893, a daughter of the late Martin & Hattie (Bleigh) Chittenden. She attended schools in Stephentown, New York. She then married George Foster in 1915 and settled in Cheshire, MA, he died in 1937. She was employed during WWII at Sprague Electri Co., in North Adams, MA. For most of her life she was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Survivors include her son, Paul Foster of Williamstown, MA, her daughters, Eleanor Cumm of North Adams, MA and Doris Foster of Williamstown, MA. 3 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Gladys Ruth St. Pierre, and a son, Carl Foster. She was also predeceased by 3 brothers, Howard Chittenden, Milton Chittenden, and Claude Chittenden, 2 sisters, Mary Staples and Bessie Amdreasen.

Funeral Services will take place Wednesday morning at 11 AM at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA with Rev. Dr. Christopher Smith, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Williamstown, MA officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown, MA. Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 WEst Main St., North Adams, MA are Tuesday from 6-8 PM.
