James Lewis Martin

August 25, 2007

James Lewis Martin, 67, of 60 N. Hoosac Road, died Saturday at Williamstown Commons.

Born in North Adams on Nov. 9, 1939, son of the late Wesley J. and June Lewis Martin, he attended Drury High School.

Mr. Martin was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for more than 40 years, retiring in 2004.

He enjoyed NASCAR and riding his motorcycle.

He and his wife, the former Ruth J. Critelli, would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary today. They were married at First Baptist Church in North Adams.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Michael A. Martin of North Adams, Derrick J. Martin of Raymond, N.H., and Wesley J. Martin of Adams; two daughters, Paula Burdick of Portsmouth, N.H., and Diana Martin of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Richard Martin of Venice, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for James Lewis Martin, who died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, will be private. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapel, 521 W. Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.

Mr. Martin was a fan of Dale Earnhardt.
