Jeffrey Darrow Kelley, 55, of 398 North Hoosac Road died Thursday at home.
Born in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, on Nov. 2, 1951, son of Robert Kelley Sr. and Dorothy Scott Kelley, he was a summa cum laude graduate of Boston College.
Mr. Kelley was employed by museums and bookstores, including Northshire Bookstore in Manchester, Vt. He traveled to Europe, South America and the Middle East to set up new financial technologies. He also researched new learning programs for such organizations as the Educational Testing Service, developed new methods to prove the value of human capital in corporations and government, and formed collaborations to begin transforming health care.
He enjoyed the arts, world events, history and hiking, from the shores of Martha's Vineyard to decades of exploring the landscape of the Berkshires and Vermont.
He and his wife, the former Pamela N. Stiller, celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary June 3.
Besides his wife and parents, of Edgartown, he leaves a daughter, Emily Darling of Bondville, Vt.; two sons, Ethan Kelley of Williamstown and Toronto and Seth Kelley, a student at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine; and a sister, Shirley Cioffi of Edgartown.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Burial for Jeffrey Darrow Kelley, who died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, will be private, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks those who wish to celebrate his life to simply spend a moment outdoors in his memory. FLYNN AND DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter-in-law, Linton Kelley; a son-in-law, John Darling; nieces and nephews, Robin, Eric, Suzanne and Brian; two sisters-in-law, Gayle Stiller and her husband, Bill, and Goodie Corriveau and her husband, David; brother-in-law, Neal Stiller and his wife, Janet, and their children, Megan and Benjamin; his mother-in-law, Ruth Stiller; grandnieces, grandnephews and many friends; and his faithful canine companion, Zack.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Kelley Jr. His wit and charm were famous among all who knew him. He was a man of great passion and devotion to his family.
