WILLIAMSTOWN - Roy Edward Ellsworth Jr., 66, of 74 Langlois Ave., died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 26, 2008, at home.
Born in Williamstown on Nov. 26, 1941, son of Roy E. Ellsworth Sr. and Hazel Lowry Ellsworth, he attended local schools including the former Williamstown High School.
Mr. Ellsworth was last employed by Aladco in Adams as a foreman for about 20 years, until his retirement in 1999. Prior to that, he worked at the former Widen Tannery.
He enjoyed sports, especially playing softball. He also enjoyed playing with his dog, Snowy.
He leaves his wife, the former Pauline Tatro, whom he married Jan. 28, 1961; a daughter, Julie Ellsworth of Clarksburg; three sons, Allan Ellsworth and James Ellsworth, both of North Adams, and Joseph Ellsworth of Worcester, three grandchildren, Angela Ellsworth, Lillian Ellsworth, and William Waterhouse; a great-grandchild, Skyler Ellsworth; two sisters, Helen Bailey of Georgia and Elizabeth Patten of Williamstown; a brother, Robert Ellsworth of Williamstown, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Ronald Ellsworth; and three sisters, Shirley Ellsworth, Arlene Rondeau and Joyce Ellsworth.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Roy Ellsworth will be Thursday morning, Feb. 28, at 11 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, with the Rev. Peter Daniels, pastor of First Baptist Church of Williamstown, officiating.
Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 7. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
