WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Norman Alphonse Roberts, 92, of 43 Pines Lodge Park, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at North Adams Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born in North Adams, son of Felix and Amelia Rondeau Roberts, he attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School.
Mr. Roberts was employed by the Hoosac Water Quality District in Williamstown until his retirement in 1994. Before that he was employed by many local businesses including the former Barber Leather and Widen Tanning companies, Clark Wholesale, Scarpitto Lumber, Cornish Wire and the Williamstown Highway Department. He also worked at the former McNicols Store.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He was a member of the former LaFayette Club and the Greylock Community Club in North Adams. He was loved by many and lived his life by the motto "If you're not working, you're wasting time."
He and his wife, the former Clista Gardner, were married July 3, 1953.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Carol Foist and her husband, Ian, of Pownal, Vt., and Nancy Bottesi and her husband, Marc, of Williamstown; a son, Charles Roberts and his wife, Mary, of Williamstown; seven grandchildren, Stephen Rennell, Corrie Hilchey, Jason Roberts Hickling, Joanna Bottesi, Marcus Bottesi, Nicole Roberts and Wade Roberts; a brother-in-law, Charles Gardner and his wife, Rita, of Williamstown; family members Mildred Roberts Baker, Eileen Robert, Margaret Harwood and their families, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Richard Roberts on May 23, 2001; two granddaughters, Kelly Garrison and Penny Roberts, his three brothers Clarence, Albert and Francis Roberts and his three sisters Florence Harrison, Yvonne Sullivan and Jeannette Cady.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Roberts will take place Monday evening at 7 at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Burial will take place at a later date.
Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Village Ambulance Service or to the St. Patrick's Food Pantry through the funeral home.
I had no idea that Uncle Norman had died, until just this minute (5:30PM, Monday, June 8, 2009). I am so sorry to read that he's passed. I love him, and know that you all adore him...I know he's in Heaven now, and hope that that knowledge gives you all peace of heart. God rest Uncle Norm's soul, and bless you all.
