WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Marjorie E. McLain, 80, of 750 North Hoosac Road died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on July 16, 1928, daughter of Delbert and Dorothy Osborne Darling, she attended city schools.
Mrs. McLain was employed as a waitress for several restaurants in the area. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.
She and her husband, Halsey G. McLain, were married April 6, 1946, in Williamstown.
Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters, Susan Merchant of Porter Corners, N.Y., Colleen McLain of Williamstown and Christine Higby of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; two sons, Donald McLain of Smyrna, N.Y., and Jeffrey A. McLain of Williamstown; a brother, William Darling of Pownal, Vt., 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Timothy McLain, in infancy, and five sisters, Katherine Clifton, Joan Sweet, Nancy Alibozek, Carol Morrison and Helen Darling, in infancy, and three brothers, Delbert Darling Jr., Robert Darling and Gerald Darling.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will take place Saturday morning, Jan. 3, at 9 at White Oaks Congregational Church. Burial will take in the springtime in Eastlawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the Village Ambulance through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
