WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Catherine P. Lane, 77, of 857 North Hoosac Road died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken suddenly.
Born in Washington, D.C., on July 24, 1931, daughter of Thomas and Irene Regan Lane, she graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names in Silver Spring, Md. She also graduated from Catholic University in Washington and attended Universita di Roma (University of Rome). She was a longtime resident of Washington.
Ms. Lane taught elementary school and was a reading specialist for many years in Maryland and Washington.
She was a true friend to children and animals.
She leaves her niece, Mary K. Crane, with whom she made her home; a nephew, George Thomas "Sam" Crane and his wife, Maureen, of Williamstown; a great-grandniece, Maggie Crane, and her caregiver, Angela Manning of North Adams.
She was predeceased by a sister, Maureen R. Crane in 2005.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 10 at St. Patrick's Church, Williamstown. Burial will take place in Eastlawn Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations are suggested for the Berkshire Humane Society through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass.
