George P. O'Neil, 71

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — George P. O'Neil, 71, of 580 Main St. died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on April 24, 1938, a son of Albert "Topsy" O'Neil and Marjorie Alderman O'Neil Callahan, he attended the former St. Joseph's School there. He was a veteran of the Air Force.
Mr. O'Neil was employed as a painter for the former Aldo's in North Adams for many years.
He was an active member of the North Adams Eagles and was a bingo caller at its games. He was a former member of the Elks, also in North Adams. He enjoyed playing bingo and in his younger years he enjoyed bowling. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
His wife, the former Lauretta LaPine Baker, whom he married on July 28, 1984, died on Nov. 23, 2004.
He leaves a daughter, Suzan O'Neil of Pittsfield; two stepsons, Bernard F. Baker Jr. and Christopher Baker, both of Pownal, Vt.; two grandchildren, Jillian Dushanek and Quinn Dushanek, both of Pittsfield, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services for Mr. O'Neil will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. at Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
