Edward L. McConnell, 61

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Edward L. "Ted" McConnell, 61, of 82 Langlois Ave. died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.

Born in North Adams on Nov. 12, 1947, son of Edward L. and Cecelia M. Grenier McConnell, he graduated from Drury High School in 1966 and attended the former North Adams State College.

An Air Force veteran, he enlisted in 1969 and served for four years as an air traffic controller. He transferred to the Navy and served another 16 years as an air traffic controller.

Mr. McConnell was employed at Radio Shack in North Adams.

He was a member of Richard A. Ruether Post 152 American Legion.

He leaves his sister, Betty Ann Labombard and her husband, Kenneth; a brother, Thomas O. McConnell and his wife, Sharon; two nieces, Stacy Gagne and her husband, Kurt, and Sharmin Wengender and her husband, Paul; two nephews, Kenneth LaBombard Jr. and Thomas O. McConnell and his wife, Deidre, five grandnieces and two grandnephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Private services for Mr. McConnell will take place Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Burial will take place in Southview Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations can be made to Village Ambulance of Williamstown in care of the funeral home.
