Mary M. Hanlon, 82

October 31, 2009

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Mary M. Hanlon, 82, of 242 Cole Ave. died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Williamstown on March 28, 1927, daughter of Charles and Nora McCarthy Hanlon, she was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School, anda member of its "Fabulous Forties" Reunion Group.

Miss Hanlon was employed by New England Telephone Co. and its successor, Verizon, for 39 years until her retirement. She first worked at the former Gevaert Film until its closing.

She was a lifelong communicant of Sts. Patrick & Raphael's Church and was a member of the St. Patrick's Women's Guild. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved bowling, gardening, and working around the house. She was an ardent fan of the Red Sox and Celtics.

She leaves two sisters, Jane Hanlon and Margaret "Peggy" Guillotte, both of Williamstown; nine nieces and nephews, 12 grandnieces and -nephews and six great-grandnieces and -nephews.

Her brother, Charles Hanlon, is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Miss Hanlon will be Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 9:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in celebration of her life at 10 at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery alongside her parents.

Calling hours at the funeral home will Monday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested to Village Ambulance, VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, or St. Patrick's Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
