Susan Fabregas, 61

January 29, 2010

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Susan Fabregas, 61, of Smith Avenue, The Spruces, died on Jan. 29, 2010, at home.

Born in Staten Island, N.Y., daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Bruce Fabregas, she grew up in Dongan Hills on Staten Island and resided in New York City until moving to the Berkshires in 1995.

Ms. Fabregas worked on Wall Street for 20 years, 10 years in over-the-counter trading and the rest in operations. She also spent 10 years working in child services as director of the Berry Community Center in Dongan Hills and was director of a children's aid society facility, working with neurologically impaired and emotionally disturbed children. Before leaving New York City, she spent three years working in cabaret in Manhattan.

Most recently, she was tenants' liaison for residents of The Spruces Mobile Home Community.

She enjoyed visual and performing arts, playing tennis, reading, writing, listening to music and cooking for large groups. She was actively involved in politics and animal advocacy while she lived on Staten Island.

She leaves a daughter, Jane Holliday of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; a brother, Keith Fabregas of Nazareth, Pa.; a sister, Barbara Smith of Williamstown, and two granddaughters, Emile Ann and Jamie Lynne Raczynski, both of Hoosick Falls.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Ms. Fabregas will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Berkshire Humane Society through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
