WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Richard "Rick" Vanesse, 56, of Coral Bay, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, died Friday, March 26, 2010, in Coral Bay after being suddenly stricken.
Born in Northampton on June 11, 1953, son of Richard "Dick" Vanasse and his wife, Helen Sylvester, he was raised in Williamstown and attended schools there. He moved to St. John in 1984.
Mr. Vanesse was a plumber by trade. He also owned the Seabreeze Cafe in Coral Bay.
He enjoyed sailing, cooking, and gardening and was an avid reader.
He leaves two sisters, Carol Vanasse and her life partner, Stephen "Holmes" Lowell, of Newport, Vt., and Joan Allen and her husband, Richard, of Cohasset; nieces Caitlin Lowell of Boston, Brooke Allen of Cohasset, and Sierra Lowell and Raina Lowell, both of Montpelier, Vt., and a nephew, Dan Allen of Cohasset.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A celebration of Mr. Vanasse's life will take place at Skinny Legs in Coral Bay on Sunday, April 25.
