Ruth Weinstein Wishnek, 90

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Ruth Weinstein Wishnek, 90, of 227 Sand Springs Road died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2010, at her home.

Born in Cleveland on Sept. 19, 1920, daughter of Adolph and Julia Freireich Brand, she attended Cleveland schools and graduated from Shaker Heights High School.

Mrs. Wishnek worked as an administrative assistant to Rabbi Silver in Silver's temple in Cleveland. She was devoted to her family and was a loving mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in North Adams. She volunteered at Lanesborough Elementary School and was an avid bridge player, playing at the Williams Inn and the Harper Center.

Her first husband, Eugene Weinstein, died in 1956.

Her husband, Bernard Wishnek, died in 2000.

She leaves a daughter, Jane Satullo Shiyah of Williamstown, with whom she resided; a son, Bruce Weinstein of Phoenix; a sister, Lillian Gorinson of Silver Spring, Md.; seven grandchildren, Rachel Shiyah-Satullo, with whom she also resided, and Bryan, Josh, Shari, Gena, David and Joy, a great-grandchild, nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Inky.

Another daughter, Barbara Silverman, and a stepson, Andrew Wishnek are deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Wishnek will be Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2 at Congregation Beth Israel, 53 Lois St., North Adams. Burial will be at a later date in Cleveland.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may ne made to the Congregation Beth Israel Education Fund in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
