WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Gay Anderson, 71, of 81 Smith Ave. died Monday, March 7, 2011, at her home.
Born in Adams on Feb. 29, 1940, daughter of Peter and Cecile Gravel Gelheiser, she graduated from the former Williamstown High School with the class of 1958.
Mrs. Anderson worked at the former Williamstown National Bank until 1967. She later worked as a substitute teacher at McCann Technical School in North Adams for about 12 years. She also was a volunteer at the Williamstown House of Local History.
She and her husband, Donald E. Anderson, were she married on June 24, 1961.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Jane E. Anderson of Williamstown; her brother, George Gelheiser of Pownal, Vt., and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her brother Jean Gelheiser predeceased her.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Anderson will be celebrated Thursday, March 10, at 11 from St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will be in the spring in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 9, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamstown House of Local History in care of the funeral home.
