Rose E. Hammann, 95

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Rose E. Hammann, 95, of 1 Haley St. died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 29, 1915, a daughter Giovanni and Mildred Rocca Mirante, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from the former Bliss Business College.
Mrs. Hammann was employed by the town of Williamstown in the Assessor's Department for 47 yeasr retiring in 2010 at the age of 94 years. She was awarded a certificate of appreciation in 2002 by the League of Women Voters for her extraordinary service to the town. She had earlier been employed at the former Gevaert Film Co. in Williamstown and New York City and was the assistant to the president for several years until the company ceased operations in 1952.
She was a communicant of the Parish of Sts. Patrick and Raphael.
Her husband, Ralph A. Hammann, whom she married May 15, 1948, died March 16, 1963.
She leaves two sons, Ralph R. Hammann and John C. Hammann and his wife, Nancy, all of Williamstown; her grandson, Michael Bryant of Williamstown, and several nieces and nephews.
Her siblings Antonio Mirante and Dr. Anna Majors predeceased her.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Hammann will be celebrated Wednesday, April 6, at 9 a.m. St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
Calling hours are Tuesday, April 5, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams.
