Katherine Cripps, 95

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Katherine Cripps, 95, formerly of 660 Main St., died Friday, July 8, 2011, at Golden Living in Portsmouth, Va.

Born in Dinwiddie County, Va., on April 12, 1916, daughter of James E. and Julia Johnson Hicks, she attended St. Paul High School in Lawrenceville, Va., and came to Williamstown in 1935.

Mrs. Cripps worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates in Adams until the company ceased operation.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Harper Center.

Her husband, Robert M. Cripps, whom she married on June 18, 1938, died on March 7, 1980.

She leaves a sister, Jean Williams of Portsmouth, Va.; her caregiver, Cora Knight of North Adams, and several nieces and nephews.

Three sisters and one brother are deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Cripps will be Thursday, July 14, at 11 from First United Methodist Church of Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Thursday morning from 10 to 11 at the church. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
