Clista Roberts, 83
October 29, 2011
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Clista Roberts, 83, of 118 Church St. died peacefully at home on Saturday evening, Oct. 29, 2011, surrounded by her family.
Born in North Adams, Mass., on Feb. 6, 1928, daughter of Sidney and Ethel Schaffner Gardner, she attended Williamstown schools, graduating from her the former Williamstown High School in 1946. She trained as a baby nurse at the former New York City Foundling Hospital in 1947.
Mrs. Roberts first worked as a nusrse for Dr. Cyril Rosston in North Adams. She later started a nursery school in Williamstown and later had a home day-care business for many years.
She and several high school classmates enjoyed planning their reunions for their beloved high school. She also loved working at the voting polls for many years in Williamstown.
Her husband of 55 years, Norman A. Roberts, died on Nov. 12, 2008.
She leaves her son, Charles "Chuck" Roberts of Williamstown; a daughter, Nancy Roberts Bottesi and her husband, Marc, of Williamstown; a stepdaughter, Carole Foist and her husband, Ian, of Pownal, Vt.; her brother, Charles E. Gardner Sr. and his wife, Rita, of Williamstown; her former daughter-in-law, Mary Angelo-Roberts of Williamstown; seven grandchildren, Joanna and Marcus Bottesi, Nicole Roberts-Wildermuth, Jason Roberts Hickling, Stephen Rennell, Corrie Hilchey, Wade Roberts and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother Sidney Gardner, her stepson, Richard Roberts, her granddaughter Kelly Garrison, and a great-granddaughter, Penny Roberts.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Roberts will be Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.

Dear Nan, Chuck, Mark--all the family,
I am so sad, that your Mother has died. I love Aunt Clista. But I'm grateful that she's in Heaven--I know that my own Mother was so happy to see her, Mommy loves Aunt Clista so much. What a rich, beautiful, warm circle of Love she created while here on this temporal orb--and a legacy that you all inherited. I'm praying for your peace of heart, and that the Lord will comfort you with the sure knowledge that you have a wonderful Mother--she's just re-located, where she can continue to advise, bless and advocate for you. xo - Marion | from: Marion Altieri | on: 10-30-2011 |
