WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Leonilda "Nilda" Codogni, 92, of Williamstown died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, surrounded by her family in Williamstown.
Born in Readsboro, Vt., on July 16, 1919, she was the daughter Attilio and Rose Gottardi Franceschetti. She moved to Monroe Bridge after her marriage and to Williamstown in 1998.
Mrs. Codogni was a longtime communicant of St. Joachim's Church and a member of the St. Anne Society in Readsboro. She loved her family deeply and through example she instilled strength, independence and confidence for her children. She spent a lifetime of caring for family. She was an avid New York Yankees fan, enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved playing cards with friends.
Her husband, Joseph Codogni, whom she married on Oct. 12, 1940, died Oct. 19, 1974.
She leaves three daughters, Judith Codogni of Williamstown, Denise Richardello and her husband, Michael, of North Adams and Jo-Ann Eldred and her husband, Larry, of Staunton, Va.; a sister, Rose Franceschetti of Williamstown; a grandson, Ryan Eldred of Virginia; a great-granddaughter, Kailua, of Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased her sisters Ines and Ermida Franceschetti and her brother, Reno Franceschetti.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Visitation for Mrs. Codogni will be Saturday morning, Feb. 4, at 8:30 at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary in North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9. A burial and Mass will take place in Readsboro, Vt., in the spring.
Memorial donations are suggested for St. Joachim's Church or to the activities fund at Williamstown Commons through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
