 Francis C. Gomeau, 85

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Francis Charles "Frank" Gomeau, 85, of 75 Champagne Ave. died Friday, 17, 2012, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 30, 1926, a son of George and Eulalie Durocher Gomeau, he graduated from Drury High School in North Adams.
A Marines Corp. veteran of World War II, he also served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Gomeau was employed in the construction industry in the area for several years and was employed as a firefighter with the city of North Adams, retiring in 1972.
He was a life member of both the 6th U.S. Marine Division and Dr. George L. Curran VFW Post 996.
His wife, the former Jean Whitney, whom he married Nov. 30, 1949, at Fort Bragg, N.C., died Aug. 19, 2010.
He leaves a daughter, Nancy Gomeau Christian of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a son, Robert Gomeau and his wife, Deborah, of Pownal, Vt.; two brothers, Bernard Gomeau of North Adams and David Gomeau of Augusta, Maine; two grandchildren, Dale Gomeau and Elisha Santarcangelo, and three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Paige and Aiden.
He was predeceased by his son Richard Gomeau in 1957 at the age of 5; his grandson Robert Gomeau and his brothers Harold, Edward, George and Robert Gomeau.
 FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Gomeau will take place Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 11 at Southview Cemetery, North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Hospice of the Berkshires through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
