WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Thelma O'Neil, 97, of 76 Mooreland St. died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Pownal, Vt., on March 9, 1914, a daughter of William and Odna Hamel Frenier, she moved to Williamstown as a young child and graduated from the former Williamstown High School with the class of 1932.
Mrs. O'Neil was employed at the former Williamstown National bank on Spring Street until joining her husband in the operations of Ken's Market on Spring Street until their retirement in October 1976.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Patrick's Church, where she was a member of the Ladies' Guild. She also was a member of the Williamstown Friendship Club and the Richard A. Ruether American Legion Post 152 Ladies' Auxiliary.
Her husband, Kenneth J. O'Neil, whom she married Oct. 12, 1946, died May 30, 2006.
She leaves her son, Stephen K. O'Neil and his wife, Nancy, of Raymond, N.H.; two grandchildren, Katie C. O'Neil of East Greenwich, R.I., and Thomas K. O'Neil of Derry, N.H.; two nieces and a nephew, Nancy Moore Gehman, Shirley Boice and Frederick E. Moore, and cousins and grandnephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. O'Neil will be celebrated Monday morning, March 5, at 10 at Sts. Patrick and Raphael Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, March 4, from 2 to 4 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Patrick's Food Pantry and the Village Ambulance through the funeral home.
