Waldron W. Chesney, 83

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Waldron W. Chesney, 83, of 285 New Ashford Road died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at his home.
Born in Pittsfield on July 13, 1929, a son of Malcolm and Helen Waldron Chesney, he graduated from the Lenox School in Lenox and attended the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He also graduated from the Chicago Institute for Diesel Mechanics.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he attained the rank of corporal.
Mr. Chesney was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and Local Union 98. He was last employed at Pittsfield Sand and Gravel Co.
He and his wife, the former Pauline Rhodes, were married May 19, 1951, in Williamstown.
Besides his wife of 61 years, he leaves two sons, David W. Chesney and his wife, Kathy, of Pownal Vt., and Michael S. Chesney and his wife, Nancy, of Schenectady N.Y.; a daughter, Linda A. Chesney of Williamstown; a sister, Carolyn Chesney of New York City; a brother, Robert W. Chesney and wife, Terry, of Eastham; a sister-in-law, Thelma Chesney of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and six grandchildren, Kristina, Alana, Philip, Heidi, Zachary and Jake.
He was predeceased by a his brother Malcolm M. Chesney Jr., late of Brooklyn, who died Oct. 30, 2008.
FUNERAL NOTICE — At Mr. Chesney's request, services will be private. Memorial donations are suggested for the Hospice Care in the Berkshires or the Alzheimers Association through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
