William 'Reggie' Strype, 86

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — William "Reggie" Strype, 86, formerly of Williamstown, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at the Village at Fillmore Pond in Bennington, Vt. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 6, 1926, son of Richard and Margaret McGee Strype, he attended schools in Brooklyn including St. Francis' High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Strype operated the family business, Erie Basin Carting Co., in Brooklyn for many years until his retirement in 1987. He moved to Williamstown in 1998 to be with his family. He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church on Staten Island and a member of the VFW there. While in Williamstown, he was a daily communicant of the Parish of Sts. Patrick & Raphael and a member of American Legion Post 152. He and his wife, the former Catherine Timmins, were married on June 9, 1951. Besides his wife of 61 years, he leaves a daughter, Maureen Strype and her husband, Sam Crane, of Williamstown; five sisters, Josephine Ford, Margaret Mattamera, Regina Lancionti, Mary Strype and Natalie Clark; four brothers, Raymond, George, John, and Robert Strype, and his granddaughter, Margaret "Maggie" Crane. His daughter Kathleen Strype Cortes died in 1981 and his grandson, Aidan Crane, died in 2006. He also was predeceased by five brothers: Richard, Vincent, Joseph, Jerry and Michael Strype. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Strype will take place Saturday, Sept. 29, at 9 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at funeral home.
