Stephen M. LaValley Sr., 61

October 27, 2012

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Stephen M. LaValley Sr., 61, of 26 Hall St. died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital.

Born in North Adams on Aug. 16, 1951, a son of Leo and Martha Belouin LaValley of North Adams, he attended schools in North Adams and also Southern Vermont College in Bennington.

Mr. LaValley was employed for many years as the head chef at the former Captain's Table. He also was employed at the former Green Mountain Race Track in Pownal, Vt., as a state judge and at James Hunter Co. in North Adams. He was last employed as a coach bus driver for J.T. Bus Lines.

Mr. LaValley will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, the former Nancy Donovan; two daughters, Laura Morris and her husband, Jeff, of Southwick and Martha Tanner and her husband, Dan, of North Adams; two sons, Stephen LaValley Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Derry, N.H., and Daniel LaValley and his wife, Abby, of Southampton; two sisters, Kimberly LaValley and Mary Beth LaValley, both of North Adams; six brothers, Lawrence LaValley of Arizona and David LaValley, Peter LaValley, Michael LaValley, Richard LaValley and Shaun LaValley, all of North Adams; seven grandchildren, Donovan, Spencer, Conner, Andrew, Morgan, Jack and Madelyn, and nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. LaValley will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 29, at 11 from St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Calling time will be held Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for POPCARES or Griffins Friends Children's Cancer Fund through the funeral home.
