WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Richard William Dickinson, 86, formerly of 80 Champagne Ave. died on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, N.H.
Born in North Adams on June 1, 1926, son of William and Viola Crews Dickinson, he attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.
An Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he served in the European theater in France and Germany.
Mr. Dickinson was employed by Patten Corp. in Williamstown until his retirement. He began his employment at the James Hunter Machine Co. for 15 years, then worked in Connecticut making compressors from 1974-1989 at Dunham-Bush.
He was a member of the Williamstown Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and golf and was a former member at Waubeeka Golf Club.
His wife, the former Doris Virginia Burdick, whom he married on April 25, 1997, on Anna Maria Island, Fla., died April 12, 2009.
He leaves two sons, Craig Richard Dickinson of New Market, N.H., and Bruce Kevin Dickinson of North Adams; a daughter, Laurie Lynn Latno of Derry, and three grandchildren, Stephanie Dickinson, Jason Dickinson and Reecica Benoit.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Dickinson will be Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
Calling hours will be Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross in care of the funeral home.
