Elva 'Dee' Lewis, 84

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Elva "Dee" Lewis, 84, of 118 Church St. died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at North Adams Commons.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 11, 1928, daughter of George and Elva Green McKay, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1948.

Mr. Lewis was last employed as a home health aide with Molari Home Health Care. Before that, she worked at the former North Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association for many years and also at the former New England Telephone Co.

She attended Williamstown Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter, from which she received a 50-year pin. She was also a member of the Friendship Club and volunteered for hospice. She enjoyed travel, especially her trip to Scotland,, and liked cats.

Her husband, Richard E. Lewis, whom she married on Dec. 2, 1978, died on May 1, 1986.

She leaves a daughter, Suzanne Young Fierro and her husband, David A. Fierro Jr., of Stamford, Vt.; a sister, Betty M. Mancuso of Leesburg, Fla., and nieces and nephews.

Her siblings Robert McKay and Ruth Baker are deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Mrs. Lewis will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, North Adams, MA 01247.
