Ross J. Barber, 89

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Ross J. Barber, 89, of 1039 North Hoosac Road died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at North Adams Regional Hospital.

Born in Pownal, Vt., on Feb. 9, 1923, a son of Lee and May Smith Barber, he graduated from the former Williamstown High School.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy.

Mr. Barber was employed at the former General Photo Products Co., beginning with its predecessor Remington Rand in 1953. He was honored for 25 years of service in 1978 with a gold watch. He had earlier worked at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp. in Long Island, N.Y., for several years.

He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and Williamstown Lodge of Masons.

He and his wife, the former Alice King, were married Sept. 20, 1947.

Besides his wife of 65 years, he leaves a daughter, Nancy Copeland and her husband, Alan, of Winter Haven, Fla.; a brother, Norman Barber and his wife, Eva, of Williamstown, and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Barber will take place Monday, Jan. 28, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery with military honors.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday morning from 10 to 11. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
