Berkshire Running Foundation Announces 2025 Race Calendar

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Berkshire Running Foundation recently announced a year-long schedule of races and community engagement.   The season kicks off with the MCLA Sam Gomez 5K on Sunday, April 6.   “The Berkshire Running Foundation is thrilled to be working with the community partners, MountainOne, Berkshire Health Systems, Spectrum Health and many other local organizations to bring these new and classic events to the Berkshires," Executive Director Shiobbean Lemme said. Three Berkshire County high school basketball teams claimed Western Massachusetts crowns on Championship Saturday.   And one area high school wrestler earned a title of his own at the Division 3 State Championships.   Six area basketball teams made it to the final game of the six divisions – three boys and three girls – where county schools are classified in Western Mass.   In Class B boys, both the Pittsfield Generals and Monument Mountain Spartans made it to the tournament finale in a rematch of last year’s final. McCann Tech Hockey Program Hosting Alumni Game

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North County high school hockey cooperative program is inviting former players to participate in the fourth annual alumni game on Sunday, Feb. 23.   The game will be played at 4 p.m. at the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink.   The co-op, currently hosted by McCann Tech, also includes players from Hoosac Valley, Mount Greylock and Drury.   Tickets to the event are $10 and include the opportunity to skate with the players after the contest.   The cost for players is $40. Local Figure Skaters Compete at Bay State Games

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Pittsfield's Sophia Collins Sunday led a sweep of the podium for the Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club in one her events at the Bay State Winter Games.   Hundreds of figure skaters from around the commonwealth and around New England participated in the annual event.   Collins took a gold medal in the Aspire 1 Girls Free Skate Group D on Sunday morning at Williams College's Lansing Chapman Rink.   Teammates Mila Juras of Cheshire and Alyse Wright of Pittsfield took bronze and silver, respectively, in the event.   Christmas Brook FSC, which hosted the three-day competition, earned eight gold medals in U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned

Swann, Williams Women Place Third at Natinoals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Williams College women's cross country team Saturday placed third at the NCAA Division III Championships.   Mount Greylock alumna Kate Swann was the third Williams runner across the finish line, placing 33rd.   Williams' men placed 10th out of 32 teams in their DIII National Championship race.

Mount Greylock Regional School alumna Kate Swann and the Williams College women's cross country team are in Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday morning to compete at the NCAA Division III Championship.   Williams crushed the field at the 24-team regional championship in New London, Conn., to qualify for the national championship.   On Nov. 16 at the Mideast Regional, Williams finished with 59 points, well ahead of runner-up Rensselaer Polytechnic, which collected 110 points.   Swann, a junior, was the second Williams runner across the finish line, finishing 10th overall with a time of 21 minutes, 36 seconds on the 6-kilometer course.   Williams has finished first or second

Soldier On 5K Sunday in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Soldier On and the Berkshire Running Foundation will host the inaugural Soldier On 5K Walk/Run Sunday, Nov. 10 at the First Street Common in Pittsfield at 9 a.m.   This event will help support the mission at Soldier On. Soldier On is a private nonprofit organization committed to ending veteran homelessness. Henderson Making a Mark at Springfield College

Monument Mountain alum Erving Henderson is making an impact in his first year on the Springfield College men's soccer team.   Henderson scored a pair of goals in the Pride's 3-1 win over Worcester State on Oct. 8.
