POWNAL, Vt. — A Williamstown, Mass., Select Board member was injured in a crash and his vehicle totaled on Monday morning.

State Police say Wade Hasty, 35, was privately taken for treatment for minor ankle and shoulder injuries. Hasty was elected to complete the last year of a three-year term in May.

According to the report by Trooper Colin Shepley, Hasty was southbound in a 2017 Subaru Forester on Route 7 when he struck a left-turning vehicle. The collision was reported about 10:15 a.m.

Bryan Kenyon, also 35, was in front of Hasty when he slowed his 2006 Jeep Commander to turn left into a driveway at 4405 US Route 7, south of Pownal View Barn. Kenyon had begun the left turn when Hasty noticed Kenyon's vehicle and attempted to swerve to avoid a collision.

Hasty subsequently struck Kenyon's vehicle in the driver side and both vehicles travelled off the roadway before coming to rest, said Shepley. Minor injuries were reported with the parties involved.

Both the Subaru and Jeep were totaled and towed from the scene. Kenyon incurred minor lacerations but declined ambulance transport.

State Police were assisted on scene by the Pownal Fire Department, Pownal Rescue Squad and All Service Towing of Bennington. A small section of US Route 7 was closed for a short period of time as both vehicles were removed. No charges were noted on the report.
