Williamstown Comprehensive Plan Forums Set for Thursday Evening
11:18AM / Wednesday, October 12, 2022

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The town's Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee plans an "interactive community meeting" in two sessions on Thursday at the Williamstown Youth Center.

The committee, which is responsible for drafting the document formerly known as the town's master plan, will seek input from the public on all elements of the plan.

The comprehensive plan, required by state law of all municipalities with a Planning Board, must address the following dimensions: land use or zoning; housing; economic development; natural and cultural resources; open space and recreation; municipal services and facilities; and circulation or transportation.

Thursday's forum will feature stations devoted to each of those topics where attendees can interact with members of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and provide written comments.

The land use station also will include a "dot voting" exercise where attendees can mark on provided maps what type of zoning they would like to see applied to different parts of town.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend whether or not they have been following the comprehensive plan process, and one of the stations will provide more information about the purpose of the plan. All comments and suggestions are welcome.

Anyone wishing to familiarize themselves with the process can view the existing conditions report draft or the 2002 Master Plan, both on the town's website.

The two sessions of Thursday's meeting will be held at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the youth center.
