Williams Field Hockey Beats Amherst in League Playoffs

AMHERST, Mass. -- Kiki Higgins scored in the 60th minute Saturday to give the Williams College field hockey team a 2-1 win over Amherst in the quarter-finals of the NESCAC tournament.
 
Catherine Torres scored a goal, and Carson Stephenson and Gates Tenerowicz split time in goal for Williams (12-4), which moves on to next Saturday's semi-finals.
 
Football
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Dan Vaughn threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns to lead Williams to a 41-28 win over Bates.
 
Vaughn also ran for 93 yards and a touchdown for Williams (2-5), which goes to Wesleyan on Saturday.
 
Men's Soccer
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Nathan Song scored in the final minute of regulation to tie the game, 1-1, and Williams went on to advance past Tufts in penalty kicks in the quarter-finals of the NESCAC tournament.
 
Ben Diffley made one save for Williams (6-1-9), whih advances to next Saturday's league semi-finals.
 
Women's Soccer
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Tufts scored twice in the last seven minutes to earn a 2-0 win over Williams in the NESCAC quarter-finals.
 
Leyla Kamshad stopped eight shots in goal for Williams (10-4-2).
 
Volleyball
LEWISTON, Maine -- Marit Hoeym had 13 kills and two blocks to lead Williams to a three-set win over Bates.
 
Sidra Wohlwend had 12 digs for Williams (13-7, 7-3), which goes to the NESCAC quarter-finals next week.
