WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 pm, the Clark Art Institute screens the English-language version of "Persepolis," the adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical novel.
The presentation is the final event in the Clark's Film and Drawing series inspired by the exhibition, "Promenades on Paper: Eighteenth-Century Drawings" from the Bibliothèque nationale de France, which is currently on view through March 12.
According to a press release:
"Persepolis" traces Marjane Satrapi's growth from young child to rebellious teen. The film takes place in Iran, during the tense political climate of the 1970s and '80s. Animation becomes thoughtful realism as Persepolis portrays life as it is lived, filtered through the lens of human experience.
The film was awarded the Prix du Jury at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Run time: 1 hour, 36 minutes
Admission to the Clark is free through March 2023. No registration is required. For more information, visit clarkart.edu/events.
