ARLINGTON, Vt. — An older pup is looking for a home to spend her golden years is patiently waiting at the Second Chance Animal Shelter.

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

Sadie is an 11-year-old mixed breed dog and has been at Second Chance for a year, but Sadie is no stranger to the shelter.

"She was adopted about nine years ago and, unfortunately, she had several owners pass away, so she's had a bit of a tough time coming back," said shelter manager Troy Quinn.

Even though she's 11, she is very energetic and loves to run around and be with you.

"She can get the zoomies, that's for sure. She loves running around, but she does really good on the leash, if she's wearing a good harness. She just loves being around her people," Quinn said. "That's her biggest thing, because she can come hang out in the office and just kind of lounges around, says hi to everybody."

Sadie doesn't like other dogs or cats so she would need a home free from them. She would do well with children who are older than 10 as she can be very bouncy, he said.

"Maybe an older couple, or maybe just a nice, quiet place, somebody that would want to walk her a couple times a day. She doesn't need a lot of attention," Quinn said. "She has her own private room here, just because she doesn't like the other dogs, and she just lounges on her bed most of the time and gets excited to go outside and play."

Sadie is ready to meet her new owners. She loves to go outside and play with some toys. If you think she is the perfect fit for you, you can contact Second Chance Animal Shelter.

"She just loves walking. I mean, even our senior dog walkers, they can take her, no problem. You just like roaming around. She'll roll in the grass," he said. "She doesn't play with toys a ton. She'll kind of just throw them around, but she really likes just getting the zoomies out in the yard and playing."

Second Chance Animal Shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. It is located at 1779 VT Route 7A in Arlington. Contact the shelter at 802-375-2898 or info@2ndchanceanimalcenter.org.
