 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Friday, Oct. 21, at 6:00 p.m. the indie folk rock bands Eliza Edens Band and Collect Calls will perform at the Store at Five Corner. The four-person Eliza Edens Band will follow the opening act Collect Calls, a singer-songwriter collective that includes Lily Goldberg, Jason Bascasa and Karl Mullen. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Edens is a Mount Greylock Regional School graduate who just released her second CD, "We'll Become the Flowers" on Oct. 14.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A biography about Berkshire County's Frank Grant, a Black player voted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006, will be the focus of a talk starting at 4:00 this Wednesday at the Williams Bookstore on 81 Spring Street. The new 270-page book is by a Minnesota author named Richard Bogovich. This talk is his first about Grant's biography. Also speaking at the bookstore will be Carolyn Foote-Minich, a descendant of Frank Grant's brother Clarence, and Kevin Larkin, a baseball historian and author who lives in Berkshire County. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — One dozen Berkshire county libraries are hosting The Berkshire Libraries Fall Crawl from October 17 to October 22, 2022. All are welcome to explore the Berkshires by visiting public libraries across the county. Participants can pick up a passport at the first library they visit and then drive from library to library, collecting passport stamps and small prizes. Participants are asked to take a photo of themselves at each library along the way and use the tag #BerkshireLibraryCrawl2022.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock School Committee on Thursday learned that the initial estimate to pay for a field and track project at the middle-high school is higher than anticipated, but the panel voted unanimously to take the next step toward bringing the project to fruition. Estimators hired by the district's owner's project manager, Skanska, determined that the projected bottom line for an eight-lane track around a new multi-purpose grass playing field with adjacent areas for shot put, discus and javelin competitions is just under $3.5 million, the committee learned. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Wednesday decided to set a late November deadline for the non-profit seeking to be assigned the town's right of first refusal on a 10-acre parcel of farmland off Oblong Road. A portion of the Phelps property currently used for grazing by Sweet Brook Farm is under a purchase and sales agreement for $745,000.
