Clark Art Invites People With Dementia and their Caregivers

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Monday, May 20 at 1 pm in the permanent collection galleries, the Clark Art Institute presents Meet Me at the Clark.    This free gallery talk program is designed specifically for people living with dementia and their care-partners.   On select Mondays, when the museum is closed to the general public, specially trained educators guide open-ended conversations about art and how it celebrates our shared humanity   Free. Williamstown Officials Mull ARPA Funds to Address School Race Issue

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday will consider considered dedicating some of the town's remaining ARPA funds to address an emergency situation in the local public schools.   Randal Fippinger brought the idea to the board in response to detailed testimony on racist incidents at Williamstown Elementary School and Mount Greylock Regional School that were raised both to the town's diversity committee and the Mount Greylock Regional School Committee.   Last week, the School Committee was asked to form a task force to address the issue and to bring in an outside consultant to advise the district on how to properly train its staff and, going forward,

No One Reported Injured After Car Strikes House in Williamstown

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — No injuries were reported Wednesday after a car drove into a house at 1033 Simonds Road (Route 7).   Williamstown Police and Fire and Northern Berkshire EMS were at the scene at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday cleaning up and waiting for a wrecker to remove the vehicle.   The lone occupant of the car, the driver, had been evaluated and refused transport to the hospital, officials said.   Wednesday's rain may have contributed to the accident.   Tire tracks were visible on the property to the south leading up to the car, a light gray sedan that hit the structure directly below a "No Trespassing" sign.   Williamstown Police are

With No Races to Decide, a Light Turnout in Williamstown Town Election

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — All four candidates on the town election ballot easily won election on Tuesday in a light day of polling at the elementary school.   In a town with about 5,000 registered voters, 438 ballots were cast in an election with no contested races, a turnout rate of about 8.6 percent.   Incumbent Select Board member Jeffrey Johnson received 408 votes for a second three-year term on the body.   Anna Halpin-Healy was returned to the library board of trustees for another three years with 419 votes.   Laila Boucher was re-elected for another three years as one of the town's two representatives on the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School

Clark Art Concert By Zarabanda Variations

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — In partnership with the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, the Clark Art Institute and MASS MoCA offer a free weekly artmaking club on Tuesdays from May 7 through Aug. 27, 2024 at the UNO Community Center, 157 River Street, North Adams.   The drop-in art club sessions take place from 3:30–4:30 pm.   Designed for children ages 8-19, Art Club was created by the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition (nbCC) in 2022. PITTSFIELD, Mass. –  The CIAO Soccer Hall of Fame induction and scholarship banquet and presentations were held on Thursday, May 9, at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield.   The 2024 inductees were honored and 21 scholarships of $1,000 each were presented.   Committee Chairmen Al Belanger and Patrick West introduced inductees and scholarship winners at the event. Clark Art: Call For Community Artists

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute seeks local emerging artists to facilitate a collaborative mural activity as part of its summer art-making program, Guided by Glass: Weekly Drop-In Art-Making.

Artists have the opportunity to develop mural designs and facilitate collective mural-making with the public. On Thursdays in July and August between 1 and 4 pm, museum visitors are invited to join the artist to create temporary murals on the Clark's Fernandez Terrace in celebration of summer exhibition, Fragile Beauty: Treasures from the Corning Museum.
