Letter: Project 2025 is bigger than Dobbs

To the Editor:

Please join Greylock Together and Indivisible chapters all across the country (13 in Massachusetts alone) on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Field Park in Williamstown on the two-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Bring signs, hear speakers, leave with actions to take.

The Dobbs decision two years ago was the tip of the iceberg. Since then, 14 states have banned abortion entirely and many more have restricted access. MAGA Republicans have made clear this is only the beginning. Trump and his enablers winning in 2025 means those things can go national. Berkshire Youth Soccer Holds Season-Ending Tournament

LENOX, Mass. -- Eight teams earned championships last weekend in the finals of the Berkshire County Youth Soccer League spring season.   Teams of boys and girls in grades 5-6 and 7-8 participated in the season-ending tournament, organized by Donna Laroque and Nigel Gayle and hosted mostly at Lenox Memorial Middle and High School.   One squad, the Williamstown Wildcats 12-and-under girls, is extending its season with a trip to this weekend's Massachusetts Tournament of Champions in Lancaster.   Teams winning Berkshire County league titles on June 15 included:   Under-12 Boys B Cup Final: GYAA 2, Williamstown Soccer Club 1 Girls B Cup Final: GYAA 2, Pittsfield Soccer

Clark Art Presents Opera Lafayette and Ariana Wehr

'Striking Out Cancer' Event Returns June 29 in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Four years in and still swinging for the fences, the Striking out Cancer in the Berkshires fund-raiser returns on Saturday, June 29, at Clapp Park.   The all-day baseball and women’s softball games are the brainchild of city resident Joe DiCicco, who conceived the event as a way to raise money to support the Jimmy Fund for cancer research and patient care at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.   For $10, any player of any ability is welcome to join in the fun. Williamstown Man Pleads Guilty To Child Sexual Abuse Charges

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Monday, June 17, Tom Nelson, 38 of Williamstown, pled guilty in Berkshire Superior Court to three charges related to child sexual abuse: Posing/Exhibiting a Child in the Nude Posing/Exhibiting a Child in a Sexual Act Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors, Second Offense According to a report from the District Attorney's Office, in 2021 the defendant utilized Omegle to make contact with an 11-year-old child. Through the connection on the Omegle, the defendant used predatory tactics to obtain graphic sexual content, on more than one platform, targeting an 11-year-old child. Williamstown Con Comm Clears Summer Street Subdivision

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Conservation Commission last week gave its approval for a four-home subdivision on a town-owned parcel on Summer Street.   Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity was before the board with a notice of intent to build a 260-foot road with four associated building lots on a parcel currently owned by the town's Affordable Housing Trust.   The road and some of the home lots are planned in the buffer zone of a bordering vegetated wetland on the lot currently known as 0 Summer St.   Habitat plans to build four single-family, one-story homes priced for residents making up to 60 percent of the area median income on the parcel.
