Clark Art Receives National Endowment for the Humanities Grant

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute recently received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for $100,000 to support the implementation of a summer 2024 exhibition on French artist Guillaume Lethière.    The grant to the Clark was part of a $41.3 million package of 280 humanities projects nationwide recently announced by the NEH.   "We are extremely grateful to the NEH for its support and for the recognition of the importance of this project," said Olivier Meslay, Hardymon Director of the Clark. Williams Volleyball Stays Unbeaten, Wins League Opener

FEMA Urges Public to Prepare Ahead of Hurricane Lee

Mount Greylock Track Bids 40 Percent Over Estimate

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee on Thursday looked at how to make $1.3 million in cuts that will be needed in order to bring the middle-high school track and field project in on budget.   "Unfortunately, the bids came back nearly 40 percent higher than we had estimated," District Business Manager Joe Bergeron told the committee at its monthly meeting.   "What that means is we needed to go back and figure out both what happened as well as how we can move forward, if at all possible."   The district has in hand $3.5 million, the remainder of a $5 million capital gift from Williams College, a $100,000 grant from the

Grants to Support Rural Economies and Forest Conservation in the Berkshires

Williamstown Sets Fiscal 2024 Tax Rate

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The property tax bill on a median single-family home in town is slated to rise by $187 in the current fiscal year.   That was one of the takeaways from Assessor Chris Lamarre's annual presentation to the Select Board at its tax classification hearing.   After the recent interim revaluation, the median single-family home value (the point at which half the residences are assessed lower and half are assessed higher) is $395,100, Lamarre reported. That will yield a tax bill of $5,986, up from $5,799 in the fiscal year that ended on June 30.   The total value of taxable property in town is up 11.3  percent in FY24, from $1.2 billion to $1.34

Williams Women's Soccer Blanks Springfield

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Isabel Konijnenberg scored the ventual game-winner in the 35th minute Wednesday as the Williams College women's soccer team beat Springfield, 3-0.   Jaquelin Nordhoff and Tori Huang each scored a goal in the second half.   Margaret Heulin and Anna Bozzi-Mackay, who split time in Williams' goal, needed to make two saves for the combined shutout.   Williams (3-0-1) goes to Bates on Saturday.

Clark Art Music on the Moltz Terrace: Senseless Optimism and Wendy Eisenberg

Williams College Plans Temporary Athletic Facility on North Campus

Williams has not discussed a timeline for the demolition of Towne Field House, which the college's strategic plan has identified to be replaced.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Williams College this week announced plans to build a temporary recreation facility on the north end of campus to fill the gap left by the closure of its Towne Field House.
