Last Chance to see 'Baseball in the Berkshires' 2025 Exhibit in Lee

LEE, Mass. – One weekend remains to see “The Fascinating Story of Baseball in the Berkshires” at the Lee Premium Outlets.   The summer 2025 home of the Baseball in the Berkshires museum project has welcomed 3,000 visitors over the past couple of months, including people from more than 23 countries and 30 states.   Guides John Belland, John Connolly, Marc Simon, Krysten St. John, Stan Tracy and Larry Moore gave the visitors a “lay of the land” and let them cover the bases which spanned almost 8,000 square feet of a former furniture store.   The local stories of more than 40 Major League players were remembered along with two who have been inducted

Berkshires Awarded Grants to Boost Woodland Restoration, Tourism

BOSTON, Mass. — The state awarded he Berkshire Naural Resource Council, Adams, Cheshire, Peru, and Williamstown grants designed to protect forests and boost local economies in Western Massachusetts.    Through the Woodlands Partnership Program, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) is providing funding, $310,000 in total, to six rural communities and three regional organizations focused on conservation and economic development. Highland Woods' Residents Return Postponed to September

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Six months after a sprinkler malfunction forced the evacuation of some residents from the Highland Woods apartments, more than a dozen residents continue to be housed in a South County hotel.   A representative from property manager Hearthway Inc. said this week that the affected units should be ready by the end of September — about a month behind the timeline that Hearthway projected to residents just after the evacuation.   "By March, we knew it was going to take until the end of August," said Kristin Coyne, Hearthway's director of portfolio operations. ARLINGTON, Vt. — An older pup is looking for a home to spend her golden years is patiently waiting at the Second Chance Animal Shelter.

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

Sadie is an 11-year-old mixed breed dog and has been at Second Chance for a year, but Sadie is no stranger to the shelter.

"She was adopted about nine years ago and, unfortunately, she had several owners pass away, so she's had a bit of a tough time coming back," said shelter manager Troy Quinn.

Court Orders Accused Williams College Vandal into Diversion Program

Williamstown Housing Trust Releases Funds to Northern Berkshire Habitat

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The trustees of the town's Affordable Housing Trust on Wednesday committed to contributing $100,000 toward the construction of the first of four Habitat for Humanity homes off Summer Street.   Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity President Keith Davis again explained the reason why the local non-profit needs additional town support to kickstart a planned four-home subdivision on 1.75-acre lot the trustees purchased in 2015 for the purpose of building income-restricted housing.   The Trust board had planned to make a $120,000 allotment that would have gone toward the subdivision's road and the first home.
