 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Thursday, Sept. 21, the Clark Art Institute kicks off its four-part film series examining the L.A. Rebellion, presented in celebration and anticipation of the Clark's 2023 Conference, "The Fetish A(r)t Work: African Objects in the Making of European Art History, 1500–1900." The Clark shows "To Sleep With Anger" at 6 pm in its auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Williamstown Community Chest will hold its 15th Fun Run on Saturday, Sept. 30. This community event consists of two races, a 5-kilometer run and a 1-mile kids’ run/family walk. The Fun Run races are open to everyone, veteran or first-time runners, and daily or occasional walkers. Families with pets and strollers are also welcome to participate. Both race events begin at 9 a.m. at the Williamstown Youth Center, 66 School St. Sign-in and registration begin at 8:15 a.m. on the day of the race.  WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Mount Greylock School Committee last week received an explanation of how and why fans are charged to attend sporting events at the middle-high school. The discussion was prompted by a move this year to start charging for admission to volleyball games. Mount Greylock's director of athletics and co-curricular activities explained that the school's policy is to charge for admission for indoor events (basketball, volleyball and wrestling) and night games played on John Allen Field (soccer, lacrosse and football).  WILIAMSTOWN, Mass. — On Friday, Sept. 22 at 10:30 am, the Clark Art Institute welcomes writers aged sixteen and older of all experience and skill levels to the next installment of its Writing Closer program. The session takes place in the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper. September's theme, "Art and the Senses," features prints, drawings, and photographs evoking sensations of touch, taste, sight, sound, and smell. Whether it's poetry or prose, fiction or non-, and a story-in-progress or something completely new, allow the works to inspire your writing. Free. Basic materials will be provided. Two of the drafts considered are echoes of a spring 2023 proposal to allow manufactured homes on residential lots. A third is a new proposal to make possible increased housing density in the town's General Residence district. WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute recently received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for $100,000 to support the implementation of a summer 2024 exhibition on French artist Guillaume Lethière. The grant to the Clark was part of a $41.3 million package of 280 humanities projects nationwide recently announced by the NEH.
