Clark Art Lecture on Social Inequality and Urban Planning

Many people are eagerly awaiting the rare total solar eclipse that will take place on April 8, when the moon will completely block the sun. Starting around 2 pm and lasting for about one hour, the daytime skies of northern Vermont and New Hampshire will slowly darken.

No Contested Elections in Williamstown this May

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — There are no contested elections this spring in town.   Tuesday was the last day for potential candidates to return nomination papers with the required number of signatures.   On Wednesday morning, Town Clerk Nicole Beverly reported that four of the five positions on the May 14 ballot will have candidates.   Jeffrey Johnson has a spot on the ballot to run for another three-year term on the five-person Select Board.   Two other incumbents also will be on the ballot: Anna Halpin-Healy for the Milne Library Board of Trustees and Laila Boucher for the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School District (McCann Technical) School

Berkshire Adult Baseball League Welcomes Players for 13th Season

PITTSFIELD, Mass. –  As it enters its 13th season, the Berkshire Adult Baseball League has a new commissioner.   Jared Martin takes over the reins this spring from BABL founder Lou Orazio.   The league, which has games mostly on Sunday mornings with some weeknights throughout the season, runs from early May through mid-August in two divisions, the 20-and-over Division and the 33-and-over Division.   “The 20+ year old division is full of mostly competitive players, while the 33+ year old division is a more fun environment and less on the competitive side of things,” Martin said.   As of late March, the league has 13 teams lined up for the 2024

Williamstown Select Board Awards ARPA Funds to Remedy Hall

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Select Board on Monday allocated $20,000 in COVID-19-era relief funds to help a non-profit born of the pandemic era that seeks to provide relief to residents in need.   On a unanimous vote, the board voted to grant the American Rescue Plan Act money to support Remedy Hall, a resource center that provides "basic life necessities" and emotional support to "individuals and families experiencing great hardship."   The board of the non-profit approached the Select Board with a request for $12,000 in ARPA Funds to help cover some of the relief agency's startup costs, including the purchase of a vehicle to pick up donations and
